sharing a moment without sharing your address
why here. shows a neighbourhood instead of a pin drop, and how to share even less.

the problem with pin drops
most apps that let you share where you are quietly hand over an exact coordinate. it feels harmless in the moment and permanent afterwards.
a single precise point is enough to work out where you live, work and sleep. presence should not cost that.
how here. blurs it
we resolve your position into a broad area — the kind of label you'd say out loud to a friend — and store a rounded point for the map. tapping a pin shows the moment, never a route to you.
moments on the map only ever come from you and friends you've accepted.
sharing even less
turn off area labels in settings and your posts carry no place at all. turn off feed visibility and your moments stay off your friends' feed.
you can always share a photo and skip location entirely — the point of here. is the presence, not the coordinates.
